What is coaching?

Coaching is a powerful, collaborative relationship between a coach and a willing individual or group, which enables through a process of discovery, goal setting, and strategic changes and actions, the realisation of new behaviours and extraordinary results.  (Michelle Duval)

Coaching is a facilitated conversation between the Coach and the Coachee, with the focus on success, excellence, meaning, purpose and performance, which empowers a person to move forward in life.  It enables people to live their full potential, to create and keep their purpose in mind and to develop their dream that they can take pride in, and then live that dream.

What is Meta-Coaching?

Meta-Coaching refers to facilitating a coaching conversation, a very unique conversation.  It is a conversation that explores with a curious fascination and non-judgment how a person performs a task, an emotion, a belief, a relationship, a business or a life.  It is a fierce conversation that gets to the heart of things and it invites paradigm shifts and transformation.  It means working with clients from the level of structure about their content.  It means facilitating clients to access their personal resources in achieving their desired outcomes.

Meta-Coaching facilitates excellence in individuals and enables them to discover the wonder and magic of taking charge of their lives.

Types of Coaching

  • Personal Coaching (Life Coaching)

The focus in Personal Coaching is on an individual’s life – the life/work balance, goals, purpose and meaning, relationships, health, career and profession, wealth, lifestyle, value clarification, etc.

  • Executive Coaching

The focus in Executive Coaching is on leadership, management, vision and mission, grooming individuals for senior management and CEO roles.  Executive Coaching can focus on performance by coaching skill enhancement in such areas as presentation skills, negotiation, career development, leadership, etc.  It also focuses on developmental growth in relationships.

Executive Coaching is about facilitating the next level of development for the Executive, it is about enabling the individual to begin exploring how to unleash even more potential.

  • Group/Team Coaching

The focus in Group/Team Coaching is on groups, group dynamics, teams, and interpersonal relationships, organizational development, coaching for motivation, buy-in, responsibility, contribution and productivity.

  • Business Coaching

The focus in Business Coaching is on the structure and efficiency of the business, looking at the and helping the business to work more efficiently.

Introductory Session

The session is designed to provide the individual a feel and experience of coaching so that he/she can talk to the coach about changes that he/she would like to make in their life.  It is a no obligation session and the duration is between 60 and 90 minutes.

In Benchmarking we drill down from abstract to concrete, from conceptual to sensory (what I can see, hear and feel) and identify behavioral meanings.

The term Benchmarking was coined in the early days in carpentry and cabinet making.  Carpenters would use a bench to mark out certain lengths and dimensions against which they would measure all their pieces of timber.  Different marks were made on the bench to represent different criteria for elements of the cabinets they were making.  Cabinet makers would lay their pieces of timber on the bench and measure them against the markings, allowing them to meet the standard before a piece of timber was cut.  In this way the benchmarks became the standard against which all cabinet makers could measure their excellence.
